NVG shortlisted as finalists for Travolution Awards 2011

14/03/2012

NVG and Absolute Media have been shortlisted as finalists for the Travolution Awards 2011 for their work on www.golakes.co.uk, the award-winning website for Cumbria Tourism.
The Travolution Awards are unique in recognising companies, brands and individuals who excel in the fields of online travel distribution, digital marketing and technology. Judged by a panel of proven business leaders, experts and entrepreneurs, they are the UK travel industry's highest accolade for innovation and excellence online.
Rachel Stott, Web Sales & Marketing Manager for Cumbria Tourism said, "We are delighted that NVG and Absolute Media have been shortlisted for the Travolution Awards 2011 for 'Best Agency for Web Design' for their work on our website. The striking yet functional design has helped golakes.co.uk exceed 4.1M visits per year and over 46 million page views. The very fact it has been shortlisted is a testament to the hard work involved in making our website such a success."

Chris Hodgen, Managing Director for Absolute Media said, "We originally produced a detailed website evaluation document on behalf of Cumbria Tourism for the old website, and were then asked to use our research to create a completely new design that would entice users to up sell when booking accommodation due to Go Lakes' changing business model."

Aviva Pearson, Business Development Manager for NVG said, "We took Absolute Media's original design and integrated it into NVG‘s new modular CMS Pro. The site features a host of new options and modules to maintain and update the site, such as dynamic style sheets and content-managed slideshows. The novel feature of this site is that the style sheets can be content managed, not just the copy."

"Normally with a rebrand, replacing an entire existing site of this size can be expensive. We kept the cost down by changing the existing templates, and with this method we did not have to re-enter content, saving time. Cumbria now has a radical new look and feel without the expense of a total rebuild, and their visitors love the attractive and inspiring site."

The awards will be held on Tuesday 11 October at The Roundhouse in London on the evening of the Travolution Summit, the two events coming back together for the first time since 2008 and as Travolution marks its fifth anniversary.
