TMI annual convention - proudly sponsored by NVG
14/03/2012
The TMI Annual Convention was held in The Lowry, Salford Quays on the 6th and 7th of October, and delegates were able to experience Salford's diverse tourism offer on a range of study tours of the city, covering the conference's theme of ‘Rethink, Reshape, Regenerate'. The conference was sponsored by NVG, TMI's new title sponsor, and focused on best practice, challenges in the sector and upcoming trends within destination management - and the tourism industry at large. TMI is the destination management section of the Tourism Society and is made up of professionals who promote and develop destinations across the UK, Europe and worldwide and works closely with Visit Britain and government departments.
Councillor John Merry CBE, Leader, Salford City Council, said:
"Tourism is an important contributor to our economy and reputation, and so it is a great coup for Salford to host the TMI conference and we welcome its delegates to the city. Whilst we attracted over 6 million visitors to our city in 2009, we are always seeking to raise the city's profile further, and we look forward to sharing ideas with other destination management professionals and hopefully welcome many more people visitors in the coming years."
Managing Director, Ben Tagg, said:
"TMI events are dedicated to knowledge transfer, best practice and networking. We know that by supporting the TMI through sponsorship we will enable the TMI programme of events to continue for the benefit of all members and destinations."
